Route description
This ancient traffic route for people and goods hailing from Cannobina takes its name from St. Carlo Borromeo, who visited the Valley in 1574.
The Saint slept in Gurro, where the splendid “Casa S. Carlo” preserves this memory.
Along the mule-track, two shrines remind of the tale of the mule that carried Borromeo and that, in the stretch where the mule-track begins to descend into the Valley of Cavaglio from Traffiume, threw the illustrious pilgrim from the saddle. The Saint miraculously escaped the lethal fall into the abyss.
The trail connects the Sanctuary of Re in Val Vigezzo with the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Pietà in Cannobio. It allows discovering the most charming corners of the Cannobina valley.

Route description
Diese alte Verkehrsader für den Personen- und Warenverkehr von Cannobina hat ihren Namen von S. Carlo Borromeo, der 1574 einen Pastoralbesuch in diesem Tal machte.
Der Heilige schlief in Gurro, wo die prächtige „Casa S. Carlo” sein Andenken bewahrt. Entlang des Saumpfades erinnern zwei bescheidene Bildstöcke an das arme Maultier, das Borromeo trug und das an der Stelle, wo das Maultier auf einem Saumpfad, der von Traffiume in das Tal von Cavaglio hinabführt, den berühmten Pilger aus seinem Sattel warf. Wie durch ein Wunder überlebte der Pilger und flog nicht in den fatalen Abgrund.
Die Route verbindet die Wallfahrtskirche von Re in Val Vigezzo mit der Wallfahrtskirche der Madonna della Pietà in Cannobio und ermöglicht die Entdeckung der poetischtens Ecken des Cannobina-Tals.

SENTIER BORROMÉE

Route description
Cette ancienne artère destinée au transit des personnes et des marchandises de la Cannobina tire son nom de Saint Charles Borromée qui fit une visite pastorale dans la vallée en 1574.
Le saint a dormi à Gurro, où la splendide « Casa S. Carlo » (demeure) conserve son souvenir. Le long du sentier muletier, deux modestes édicules rappellent l’épisode de la pauvre mule qui transportait Saint Charles Borromée et qui, sur le tronçon où le sentier muletier commence à descendre dans la vallée de Cavaglio en venant de Traffiume, désarçonna l’illustre pèlerin qui échappa miraculeusement à la désastreuse chute dans le ravin qui lui aurait été fatale.
L’itinéraire relie le sanctuaire de Re en Val Vigezzo au sanctuaire de la Madone de la Pitié de Cannobio et permet de découvrir les coins les plus évocateurs de la vallée Cannobina.

Route description
Questa antica arteria del traffico di genti e mercanzie cannobine prende il nome da S. Carlo Borromeo che compì in valle una visita pastorale nel 1574.
Il santo dormì a Gurro, dove la splendida “Casa S. Carlo” ne conserva il ricordo.
Lungo la mulattiera due modeste edicole ricordano l’episodio della povera mula che trasportava il Borromeo e che, nel tratto dove la mulattiera prende a scendere nella valle di Cavaglio provenendo da Traffiume, sbalzò di sella l’illustre pellegrino che miracolosamente scampò al disastroso volo nel baratro che gli sarebbe stato fatale.
Il percorso collega il Santuario di Re in Val Vigezzo con il Santuario della Madonna della Pietà di Cannobio e consente di scoprire gli angoli più suggestivi della valle Cannobina.
