La Val Grande est un parc national depuis 1992 : composé d’environ 17 000 hectares de terres enclavées entre le lac Majeur et la vallée Cannobina à l’est, la vallée Vigezzo au nord et la vallée de l’Ossola au sud et à l’ouest, il est défini par la Wilderness Foundation global comme étant « le seul espace naturel européen qui préserve pleinement ses caractéristiques environnementales d’origine ».Territoire autrefois habité par des personnes se consacrant à l’élevage de moutons et au déboisement, il est aujourd’hui inhabité et se trouve être le royaume d’une nature sauvage sur laquelle l’homme n’est pas intervenu depuis plus de quarante ans.

La richesse et la variété de la végétation est l’une des caractéristiques les plus intéressantes de la vallée habitée par des chamois, des chevreuils, des renards, des cerfs et des aigles.

Protégé par des montagnes escarpées, le parc n’est accessible que par des cols et des sentiers que l’on peut parcourir à pied en été et en compagnie de guides experts.

Une première approche du parc peut être proposée par les centres d’accueil situés dans les communes limitrophes : San Bernardino Verbano, Intragna, Premosello Chiovenda, Vogogna, Buttogno (Santa Maria Maggiore) et Cicogna (Cossogno). À Vogogna, en Ossola, se trouve le siège du parc national, tandis qu’à Intragna, dans le Verbano, le centre d’accueil du parc consacré aux animaux nocturnes est digne d’intérêt.

Das Val Grande ist seit 1992 ein Nationalpark. Der Park, der sich über ein Gebiet von 17.000 Hektar zwischen dem Lago Maggiore und dem Valle Cannobina im Osten, dem Valle Vigezzo im Norden und dem Ossola im Süden und Westen erstreckt, wird von der Wilderness Society „als einzige Naturlandschaft Europas, die ihren ursprünglichen Charakter vollständig bewahrt hat“, beschrieben. Einst lebten in dem Gebiet Menschen, die Weide- und Forstwirtschaft betrieben. Seit 40 Jahren dagegen unterliegt es nur noch den Gesetzen der wilden Natur ohne Eingriffe des Menschen.

Der Reichtum und die Vielfalt an Vegetation macht dieses von Gämsen, Rehen, Füchsen, Hirsche und Adler bewohnte Tal besonders interessant und reizvoll.

Der von schroffen Bergen umrahmte Nationalpark ist nur in der Sommersaison über Pässe und Fußwege und in Begleitung erfahrener Bergführer betretbar.

Einen ersten Eindruck von ihm erhält man in den Besucherzentren der Orte um den Park: San Bernardino Verbano, Intragna, Premosello Chiovenda, Vogogna, Buttogno (Santa Maria Maggiore) und Cicogna (Cossogno).
In Vogogna (Ossola) ist der Sitz der Verwaltung des Parco Nazionale, während in Intragna (Verbano) sich ein Besuch des den nachtaktiven Tieren gewidmete Besucherzentrums lohnt.

Val Grande has been a National Park since 1992: it consists of about 17,000 hectares of land enclosed between Lake Maggiore and the Cannobina Valley to the east, the Vigezzo Valley to the north and the Ossola area to the south and west. It is defined by the World Wilderness Association as “the only European natural area that fully preserves original environmental characteristics”. A land that in the past was inhabited by people carrying out sheep farming and deforestation, today it is uninhabited, and it is the kingdom of wilderness where humans have not set foot for more than forty years.

The wealth and variety of the vegetation is one of the most interesting features of the Valley, inhabited by chamois, roe deer, foxes, deer, and eagles.

Protected by rugged mountains, the Park is accessible only through passes and paths that can be covered on foot in good weather and accompanied by expert guides.

A first approach to the Park can be offered by the visitor centers located in the municipalities on its borders: San Bernardino Verbano, Intragna, Premosello Chiovenda, Vogogna, Buttogno (Santa Maria Maggiore) and Cicogna (Cossogno).
In Vogogna – in Ossola – sits the headquarters of the National Park, while in Intragna – in Verbano – there is an interesting visitor center dedicated to nocturnal wildlife.

Val Grande è, dal 1992, Parco Nazionale: costituito da circa 17.000 ettari di territorio racchiusi tra il Lago Maggiore e la Valle Cannobina ad est, la Val Vigezzo a nord e l’Ossola a sud e a ovest, è definito dall’Associazione Mondiale Wilderness “l’unica area naturale europea che conserva integralmente originali caratteristiche ambientali“. Territorio un tempo abitato da persone dedite alla pastorizia e al disboscamento è oggi disabitato e regno di una natura selvaggia su cui l’uomo non interviene da più di quarant’anni.

E’ proprio la ricchezza e la varietà della vegetazione una delle caratteristiche più interessanti della valle, abitata da camosci, caprioli, volpi, cervi e aquile.

Protetto da aspre montagne, il parco è accessibile solo attraverso valichi e sentieri percorribili a piedi in bella stagione e in compagnia di guide esperte.

Un primo approccio al parco può essere quello offerto dai centri-visita situati nei Comuni ai suoi confini: San Bernardino Verbano, Intragna, Premosello Chiovenda, Vogogna, Buttogno (Santa Maria Maggiore) e Cicogna (Cossogno).
A Vogogna – in Ossola – è la sede del Parco Nazionale, mentre a Intragna -nel Verbano – interessante è il centro visita del parco dedicato agli animali della notte.
